Giving Thanks By Giving Back

Albion Scaccia has been so blessed that we wanted to give back to our community by participating in some recent charitable events. In addition to helping raise money for some great causes, I had a lot of fun!

First, Albion Scaccia sponsored the Top Gun Ride for Children April 17. The ride benefits the Center for Children and Young Adults, a charity I’ve been involved with for about 15 years. I’m currently the president of the board and served as the Top Gun Ride co-chair this year. The Center operates two long-term, residential facilities for abused, abandoned and neglected children and youth and also operates a transitional living program that provides residential, educational and vocational training for young adults. I was really excited to hop on my Harley and join hundreds of other motorcyclists for the 8th annual ride that bridges the gap between state funding and the amount actually needed to help these kids.

Then on May 7, I participated in the Georgia Perimeter College Foundation’s annual George Fellows Memorial Golf Tournament at Chateau Elan with Chris Soffe, Terry Herr and James Fredrickson. This event raises thousands of dollars for scholarships, student programs, academic initiatives and professional growth opportunities for faculty and staff.

Our community has given us so much, and the whole Albion Scaccia staff and I are really glad we had the opportunity to give back!

Albion Scaccia Makes Georgia State Short List

I am delighted to announce that Albion Scaccia, in partnership with Pieper O’Brien Herr Architects, has been qualified to submit a proposal to design and build an expansion to one of Georgia State University’s existing classroom buildings.

Georgia State is the second largest university in Georgia and has been growing rapidly. The school needs more classroom space but didn’t want to buy or construct a new building. We responded to a request for qualifications and were accepted as a potential design/build firm for this expansion project.

Working from bridge documents provided by Brookwood Group, we’re currently putting together a proposal for a 20,000 square foot, five-floor expansion to Georgia State’s Classroom South building. I think this is going to be a really exciting project.

We are so proud Georgia State recognized that though we are a bit smaller than the other bidding companies, our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction is unrivaled, and our team has the expertise and talent to successfully complete this expansion.

Meet our new team member!

I’m excited to introduce our new Business Development Manager, Afsaneh Abree. A lot of you may already know Afsaneh, through her active participation in a number of our industry associations, including CEFPI, ACCG, GASFA, GAPPA, SLA and the Greater North Fulton Community Improvement District.

For those of you who don’t, I’m sure you’ll be as impressed with her as we are. She was previously with United Consulting, where she explored and generated new markets and smoothly managed work flow and client relationships. At Albion Scaccia, Afsaneh will be developing and maintaining relationships with our higher education, K-12, healthcare and commercial/retail clients.

One of the characteristics we admire the most in Afsaneh is the passion, dedication and excitement she brings to everything she does … whether it’s developing markets for us, participating in the PTA at her son’s elementary school or challenging opponents on the aikido mat.

She was just certified as a Professional Integral Coach through New Ventures West and has a degree in chemistry. In addition to English, Afsaneh speaks Farsi and French, with two certificates in English from Cambridge University.

Please join me in welcoming Afsaneh. I believe she’ll be an invaluable asset to Albion Scaccia and our clients. Please feel free to contact her at aabree@albionscaccia.com.
