Our commitment to quality and experience has helped Albion Scaccia win an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission (GSFIC) and Georgia Building Authority.
We’re especially proud of this contract because it was granted based solely on our qualifications and interview performance, not budget, and we beat out three other outstanding firms.
The contract itself is really interesting. The Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission and Georgia Building Authority maintain about 16,000 buildings across the entire state, and we’ll be managing various projects based on their needs.
The contract begins July 1 and is in effect for a year, with an option to renew for two additional years. We won’t know until then what projects we’ll be managing, but the two organizations are responsible for maintaining state colleges, office buildings and even the Capitol and governor’s mansion.
I’m really looking forward to working with these two agencies and will keep you posted if any particularly interesting projects arise from the contract!

We kicked off summer Memorial Day weekend with a trip to the annual Georgia Association of Physical Plant Administrators (GAPPA) conference in Jekyll Island. The GAPPA show is one we look forward to each year because it gives us a chance to catch up with our clients and prospects in a relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere.
After sponsoring and playing in the golf tournament, we met with old friends and new during the trade show Sunday evening and Monday morning. We really enjoy the opportunity to not only meet with our clients during events like these, but also to support their continuing education by participating in the trade show and sponsoring events.
In fact, we’ve got several more conferences coming up this year, including the Georgia chapter of the Council of Educational Facility Planners International (CEFPI) conference and golf tournament at the end of next week; the Georgia Association of School Facility Administrators (GASFA) in October; and, the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) in November.
Plus I’ll have a chance to work on my golf game at several upcoming tournaments benefiting Georgia State University, Georgia State University’s Athletic Association and Georgia Tech’s housing department.
If you’re going to be at any of these events, please stop by and say hello. I look forward to seeing you!

While the Yellow Jackets football team is working out this summer, we’ll be in Bobby Dodd stadium, renovating the president’s suite.
After successfully refurbishing Georgia Tech President G.P. “Bud” Peterson’s office prior to his arrival on campus from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he served as chancellor, the school approached us to renovate the president’s suite at the stadium.
The space is more than 4,000 square feet and will feature a lot of high end finishes, like sapele wood veneers on the ceilings, columns and walls; a glass nano wall that can be removed during games so guests can enjoy the crowd; and, mecho black out shades. We’ll also replace the HVAC system and lighting in the suite.
In addition to providing an entertainment space during games, the suite is connected with Georgia Tech’s Student Success Center and gives new students an awe-inspiring view of the stadium during orientation tours.
This fun project will also be a challenging one … we have to complete it before the first home game against South Carolina State September 4!
